Protect South Transcona

South Transcona is one of the few parts of Winnipeg that still feels rural. People live there because they value the open space, rural lifestyle and strong sense of community. That should be protected.

I will oppose the South Transcona Secondary Plan its current form without supporting infrastructure. That means proper roads, sewer capacity, emergency access, and a plan for the traffic that new development would bring.

I will also push for St. Boniface Road to be used as the main access route, with servicing and construction traffic directed through Plessis wherever possible. Residents on Bates and Esselmont should not be expected to carry the burden simply because it is more convenient for the developer.

No homeowner should be pressured to sell for the benefit of a private development. People deserve to know what protections are in place before anything moves forward.

Protecting South Transcona’s rural character also has to mean something in practice. New development should include fit the area instead of overwhelming it.

I am not against growth. I am against growth that comes before infrastructure and changes South Transcona beyond recognition.

I Promise too:
  • Oppose the South Transcona Secondary Plan in its current form.
  • Common Sense Infrastructure: Push developers to use St. Boniface Road as the main access route.
  • Protect Homeowners: Protect homeowners from pressure to sell.
  • Lifestyle Preservation: Ensure that the rural character of South Transcona is preserved in future development.
