CHRIS GIESBRECHT LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR TRANSCONA CITY COUNCILLOR

Chris Giesbrecht officially registered today to run for Winnipeg City Council in the Transcona ward. Born and raised in Transcona, Giesbrecht said his campaign will focus on three priorities: Safe Streets, Better Basics, and Smart Growth. ““Transcona is a community of builders who roll up their sleeves and get things done” said Giesbrecht. “That is the kind of approach I want to bring to City Hall.”

Giesbrecht is committing to getting shovels in the ground on the East of the Red Recreation Complex during his first term. He will also push for stronger action against repeat crime, the return of the transit system to its prior form and protecting the rural character of South Transcona.

“People are tired of hearing about projects getting built in other parts of the city, while our taxes go up and our tangible results go down” said Giesbrecht. “I am running to focus on everyday concerns and deliver results you can actually see.”

Giesbrecht works as a constituency assistant, helping residents deal with government programs and resolve problems. He has also supported adults with disabilities and serves with the Rotary Club of Transcona, the Transcona Museum, and the St. Amant Foundation.

“Transcona does not have to settle for the same leadership and the same results,” said Giesbrecht. “I am offering fresh energy, new ideas, and a hopeful vision for the future, and I will work to be a councillor that Transcona can be proud of.”
